Title

Resolution to Rescind R-19-139 (Community Engagement and Approval Processes for City Related Improvement Projects)

Body

Whereas, On April 1, 2019, City Council approved Resolution R-19-139 (Resolution Regarding Community Engagement and Approval Processes for City Related Improvement Projects);

Whereas, Lane reductions or “road diets” are proven safety measures and are important tools in achieving the City’s Vision Zero goals;

Whereas, Lane reductions are addressed in existing master planning documents and therefore staff should be permitted to proceed with such projects when found to be technically feasible without further authorization required from City Council; and

Whereas, Public engagement components described in Resolution R-19-139 are covered in Resolution R-18-275 and are already incorporated by staff into lane reduction projects as a matter of best practice;

RESOLVED, That City Council rescind Resolution R-19-139 (Resolution Regarding Community Engagement and Approval Processes for City Related Improvement Projects) previously approved at a City Council meeting on April 1, 2019;

RESOLVED, The City Administer shall notify Council 15 days prior to implementing any road reconfigurations on major streets and corridors unless reasonable circumstances prevent such notice being sent and in those instances Council shall be notified as soon as possible; and

RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
