Resolution to Approve an Amendment to Council Rule 19 to Remove the Requirement of a 2/3 Vote of Council Members Present for Suspension of the Council Rules
Memorandum
The current Council Rule 19 requires a 2/3 vote of Council members present to suspend the Council Rules. This resolution removes that requirement, with the result that suspension of the Council Rules would require 6 votes of Council, without regard to the number of members present. The resolution also refers the change to the Council Rules Committee for evaluation.

Whereas, The current Council Rule 19 requires a 2/3 vote of Council members present to suspend the Council Rules;
RESOLVED, That the City Council adopts the attached amended Council Rule 19; and
RESOLVED, That the Council Rules Committee review the provision of Rule 19 that allows suspension of the Council Rules and report to the Council whether any further changes should be made.
