Whereas, Washtenaw County voters approved a four-year 0.5 mill millage in 2016 to fund road and non-motorized path construction and maintenance;
Whereas, From 2017-2020 the Millage provided approximately $2,000,000 per year to the City of Ann Arbor for various street resurfacing and non-motorized transportation projects;
Whereas, The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners approved ballot language and is seeking renewal of the 0.5 mill millage at the August 2020 election;
Whereas, Over the course of the 4 years of the proposed County Roads Millage, the City currently plans to spend the revenues generated on such projects as Plymouth Road (Murfin to lower Broadway) Resurfacing, Geddes Ave (Church to Highland) Resurfacing, Earhart Road (US-23 to Greenhills) Resurfacing, Miller Ave (Linda Vista to Chapin) Resurfacing, Washington Street Bicycle Boulevard, Asphalt path resurfacing along Packard, and sidewalk gap projects on Ellsworth, Brooks, and Stone School; and
Whereas, The millage provides support for the City to meet its motorized and non-motorized transportation goals;
RESOLVED, That the City of Ann Arbor formally endorses the 2020 Washtenaw County Road and Non-Motorized millage.
