Whereas, On July 6, 2009, City Council authorized the creation of a Task Force to Develop a Self-Sustaining Financial Plan for Mack Pool, per Resolution R-09-0685;

Whereas, The Mack Pool Task Force is to be comprised of 11 members, including 2 Council members, 1 Park Advisory Commission member, 1 representative from each major user group (Masters, Dawn Ducks/Seniors, Gay and Lesbian A2QUA, Synchronized Swimming), 3 representatives from Ann Arbor Public Schools (Ann Arbor Open at Mack School, Administration, and Community Education and Recreation), and 1 Regular User/Mack Pool neighbor;

Whereas, The Mack Pool Task Force is to work with staff to evaluate options for sustaining the operations at Mack Pool in a financially-responsible manner and to engage with AAPS to explore cost sharing and maximizing facility utilization;

Whereas, The City Administrator is to coordinate a process working with the appointed Mack Pool Task Force to explore these same options;

Whereas, This process is to examine options for increased revenue as well as potential cost reduction measures for services offered and operation of Mack Pool;

Whereas, The alternative options considered and developed be presented to City Council in February 2010 and be considered for inclusion in the City Administrator’s FY 2011 budget proposal;

Whereas, The Mack Pool Task Force will be responsible directly to the Mayor and City Council, but will also report out to the Park Advisory Commission; and

Whereas, The Mack Pool Task Force will expire in April 2010;

RESOLVED, That the City Council appoint the following individuals to the Mack Pool Task Force, with terms that expire in April 2010:

• Carsten Hohnke, City Councilmember
• Christopher Taylor, City Councilmember
• Scott Rosencrans, Park Advisory Commission member
• Lynden Kelly, A2QUA swim group
• Ed Sketch, Mack Pool neighbor, season pass holder and regular lunch time lap
