Resolution to Approve Purchase Order with On Duty Gear, LLC for the Purchase of Concealable Body Armor ($70,875.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution seeks approval of purchasing concealable body armor in the amount of $70,875.00, on behalf of the Ann Arbor Police Department.
Fiscal/Budget Impact: Funds for the purchase have been budgeted and approved in the FY20/21 Police budget. No additional funds are being requested at this time. If this resolution is approved, there are no anticipated adverse operational impacts.
Concealable body armor has a warranty and service life of 5 years from the date of manufacture. The Police Department seeks to replace approximately 105 concealable body armor that are set to expire between September 16, 2019 and December 31, 2021.
This purchase was put out for bid under ITB-4592. Two bids were received and On Duty Gear was the lowest bidder and is able to meet all of the requirements listed in the bid. As such, the Police Department intends to award the bid for concealable body armor to On Duty Gear.
Approval of the purchase is recommended.

Whereas, The warranty and service life of the body armor currently worn by Ann Arbor Police Officers is due to expire (5 years from the date of manufacture);
Whereas, The Ann Arbor Police Department will purchase new body armor that meet current standards and have been certified;
Whereas, The concealable body armor meeting all such requirements are offered by On Duty Gear, LLC, which was the lowest cost bidder for said body armor; and
Whereas, The approximate cost for of the concealable body armor purchases (105) under the proposed purchase order will be a total of $70,875.00;
