Title
Resolution to Approve Street Closures for the South University Area Association Block Party on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Sunday, September 15, 2019
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration and approval is a request from the South University Area Association (SUAA) to close South University between East University and Forest Avenue and Church Street from Willard to the area just before the University of Michigan Parking Structure for the South U Block Party. The street closure is requested for Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 1:00 AM on Sunday, September 15, 2019 but the actual event will take place from 5:00 PM until 11:00 PM with the additional time to be used for set-up and breakdown. This is a music event staged by SUAA and sponsored by local businesses. Its intent is to welcome students back and also to attract patrons to area businesses on a football bye weekend.

The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas, pursuant to the MLCC regulations.

Notification of the street closure will be provided through SUAA and via the City's website and via GovDelivery.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
