Resolution to Approve a Supplemental Fire Services Agreement between The City of Ann Arbor and The Regents of the University of Michigan from September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2024

Memorandum

The University of Michigan hosts athletic or other planned events that require fire departmental resources beyond normal staffing levels.  These requests for fire services are external to the provisions of State of Michigan Public Act 289 of 1977 - Fire Protection Services for State Facilities.  This agreement allows for reimbursement to the City of Ann Arbor from the University of Michigan for these supplemental fire service costs.

Whereas, The University of Michigan hosts athletic and other planned events that require fire departmental resources beyond normal staffing;

 

Whereas, These requests for fire services are external to the provisions of State of Michigan Public Act 289 of 1977 - Fire Protection Services for State Facilities; and

 

Whereas, The attached Supplemental Fire Services Agreement requires the University of Michigan to reimburse the City for the provision of supplemental fire services for athletic or other planned events;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council approve the attached Supplemental Fire Services Agreement (“Agreement”) with the University of Michigan beginning September 1, 2019 and continuing through August 31, 2024;

 

RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said agreement after approval as to form by the City Attorney, and approval as to substance by the City Administrator; and

 

RESOLVED, That City Council authorize the City Administrator to take the appropriate administrative actions to implement this resolution including execution of any Agreement renewal or amendments, in accordance with the Agreement’s terms.
