Resolution to Approve a Change Order with E.T. MacKenzie Company for the Miller - Maple Transmission Water Main Project ($128,826.07)

Attached for your review and approval please find a resolution approving Change Order No. 2 to E.T. MacKenzie Company in the amount of $128,826.07. This change order revises the original estimated construction quantities to their final as-constructed quantities, thereby balancing them. In addition, this change order establishes several new contract items of work that were required to satisfactorily complete the installation of the new water main and storm sewer.
The Miller - Maple Transmission Water Main project installed approximately 9,834 LF of 24” water main and appurtenances from City of Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant to Dexter Avenue along Sunset Road, Fulmer Street, Miller Avenue and Maple Road. The project also included the construction of 2,800 LF of Storm Sewer and 2,030 LF of sludge discharge force main and all related work. This project provides the necessary water capacity to Scio Township and further improves the City’s water supply system. The installation of the storm water collection and spent lime stone handling systems upgraded the City of Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant and insure its compliance with the City’s current storm water ordinance. The construction of this project was completed on November 30, 2008.
The City of Ann Arbor - Scio Township agreement (R-08-0078) states that Scio Township is responsible for their share of the Miller-Maple Transmission Water Main Project. From the $128,826.07 additional work, Scio Township’s share is $67,447.95 and City of Ann Arbor share is $61,378.12. The Scio Township has already agreed to their share of additional charges.
Upon your approval of this change order, we will make the final payment to the contractor and close the project.
