Resolution Authorizing a Purchase Order to Washtenaw County for the City of Ann Arbor's Share of the Maintenance of the Shared 800 MHz Simulcast System ($94,650.00)

Please find attached for your consideration a resolution that authorizes the issuance of a purchase order to Washtenaw County for FY 2010 for the City of Ann Arbor's share of the maintenance costs of the shared 800 MHz simulcast system.
The cost of maintaining the system is distributed to each radio that uses the 800 MHz system. The current cost for each radio is $150 per year. The City has 631 radios that use the system; therefore, our cost of maintaining the system is $94,650.00.
Annually each Service Area budgets their share of the 800 MHz system costs in their operating budgets. The Field Operations Service Unit of the Public Service Area receives internal transfers from each Service Area and pays Washtenaw County, who is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the system.

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor uses the 800 MHz simulcast radio system;
Whereas, Washtenaw County is responsible for maintenance of the 800 MHz Simulcast System;
Whereas, The cost for maintenance for FY 2010 is $150.00 per radio and is budgeted in each Service Area's budget; and
Whereas, The Field Operations Service Unit of the Public Services Area collects this service fee from all 631 City of Ann Arbor users and remits the payments to the County;
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to approve the issuance of a purchase order to Washtenaw County for $94,650.00 for FY2010 maintenance of the 800 MHz radio system.
