Resolution to Establish Annual Population Adjustment for Ann Arbor Township
Memorandum
Approval of the attached resolution will establish annual population adjustments through annexations that occurred in Ann Arbor Township during the 2008 calendar year. This procedure is necessary to determine the proper pro rata share for any State funds, monies or grants, in accordance with the Home Rule Cities Act. The township has been notified of this process and was provided with the same resolution for approval by its respective Township Board. Upon approval by the City and township, the joint resolution will be forwarded to the Secretary of State.

Whereas, Michigan law allows for the Township and City, by joint resolution of each governing body, to prorate state funds, monies or grants between the Township and City;
Whereas, It is necessary for the Township of Ann Arbor and City of Ann Arbor to have prorated state revenue sharing funds; and
Whereas, In order for the State of Michigan to prorate such funds, it needs an agreed upon count of persons residing in the area annexed from the Township to the City;
RESOLVED, That the Ann Arbor Township Board and the Ann Arbor City Council find that there were 19 people residing in the annexed areas, and the ratio of population between the annexed areas being 19 persons, and the remainder of the Township as determined by the 2000 Census shall be the basis for determining the proper pro rata share for any state funds, monies or grants hereafter distributable under Michigan law.
