Memorandum
The attached resolution is requesting approval to close North University Street between South State Street and South Thayer Streets and South State Street from East William to East Liberty Streets for the MUSIC Matters SpringFest event from 4:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. The event will start at 11:00 A.M. and end at 4:00 P.M. with the additional time to be used for set-up and break-down of the event. The street will open as soon as safely possible after the event.

The sponsor, the University of Michigan-MUSIC Matters organization, is presenting a day of festivities to be capped off with a MUSIC Matters concert. This will be the sixth year for this event. The festivities will showcase the best of the University of Michigan and will feature an assortment of student groups from the innovation, arts, sustainability, music and social justice communities on campus. The day will include performances from local artists, a product launch zone, interactive and engaging exhibits from student groups and food from local trucks.

Notification of the street closure will be through the City's website and GovDelivery, press releases and resources through the University of Michigan at least one week prior to the event.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
