Resolution to Approve Madison Street Closing for the University of Michigan's South Quad and West Quad Annual Block Party on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration and approval is a request from the University of Michigan Housing Department to close Madison Street between Thompson and State Streets for the South and West Quads Annual Block Party. The street closure is requested for Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM but the actual event will take place from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with the additional time to be used for set-up and breakdown. The University is treating the students to many activities including yard games, ladder ball, giant Jenga and other activities to bring the community together. There will be a DJ for this event so there will be the amplification of music during this time.
Notification of the street closure will be provided through the University and via the City's website, GovDelivery.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
