The attached resolution authorizes the summary publication of the Unified Development Code (Chapter 55). State law requires a published notice of adoption of a zoning ordinance, and the City Charter contains provisions to allow summary publication of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length. Approval of this resolution will eliminate the cost of publishing the entire ordinance in the notice.

Whereas, Section 7.4 of the City Charter authorizes the publication by summary of ordinances over 500 words in length;
RESOLVED, That the publication of Ordinance 18-08 shall be by the following summary:
A zoning ordinance regulating the development and use of land has been adopted by the legislative body of the City of Ann Arbor.
Ordinance 08-32 amends the Code of the City of Ann Arbor with a new Chapter 55 (Unified Development Code) which consolidates the City’s land development and zoning ordinances into a single chapter. The Unified Development Code includes: zoning districts, use regulations, area, height and placement regulations, parking standards, landscaping, storm water management and soil erosion, natural features, signs, outdoor lighting, fences, administrative procedures and application requirements, nonconformities, and enforcement violations and penalties. The Ordinance repeals the following chapters of the Code as the contents of these chapters have been incorporated into the Unified Development Code: Sections 4:16 through 4:20 and Section 4:30 of Chapter 47 (Streets and Curb Cuts) of Title IV; and Chapter 55 (Zoning), Chapter 56 (Prohibited Land Uses), Chapter 57 (Subdivision and Land Use Control), Chapter 59 (Off-Street Parking), Chapter 60 (Wetlands), Chapter 61 (Signs and Outdoor Advertising), Chapter 62 (Landscaping and Screening), Chapter 63 (Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control), of Title V; and Chapter 104 (Fences). The Ordinance provides requirements for the entire City of Ann Arbor.
The effective date of the Ordinance is 10 days after publication of this notice.
The Ordinance will be available online at www.a2gov.org/udc and in the Office of the City Clerk (301 E. Huron, Ann Arbor, Michigan) starting on July 18, 2018.
