Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve a contract with Jaran Construction in the amount of $179,568.00 to replace pedestrian and cart bridges and renovate cart paths at the Leslie Park Golf Course per Bid #4008.
The bridge replacement and cart path repair project is part of the Council approved golf course recommendations for capital improvements at the Leslie Park Golf Course. All five of the pedestrian bridges, one cart bridge and several areas of path have significantly deteriorated necessitating full replacement. Two of the three cart bridges are receiving new decks. Permits have been obtained from the MDEQ and are being obtained from the Washtenaw County Water Resources Office for work in Traver Creek.
Funding for the bridge and cart path project is included in the approved FY 09 Park Maintenance and Capital Improvements Millage (Fund 71) and the approved FY 09 Park Repair and Restoration Millage (Fund 06).
Bid documents were advertised on MITN and sent to qualified contractors. Five companies submitted bids for the project as follows:

The resolution includes a recommended construction contingency of $17,957.00 (10%) to cover potential contract change orders to be approved by the City Administrator. It is requested that a $197,525.00 total construction budget be established for the life of the project without regard to fiscal year.
