Resolution to Approve Closing Maynard Street for the Movies on Maynard Special Event on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 3:00 PM until Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 1:00 AM

Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of Maynard Street from Liberty to the entrance of the Parking Structure to screen movies for the Cinetopia and the District Present: Movies on Maynard special event. The closure will take place from 3:00 PM on Friday, June 1, 2018 until 1:00 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2018. The event itself will take place from 5:00 PM until 11:30 PM. The additional time is requested for set-up prior to and cleanup following the event. The Parking Structure will remain accessible from both Maynard and Thompson Streets for the duration of the event.
This event, sponsored by the Michigan Theater and the State Street District, celebrates the annual Cinetopia International Film Festival. The applicants will present a free outdoor film screening (appropriate for all ages) on Maynard Street, across the street from the Michigan Theater. The public will be entertained by music starting at 5:00 PM, followed by the film at sundown (approximately 9:30 PM).
The applicants agree to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery, and applicant contact with impacted businesses.
