Resolution Authorizing Sanitary Sewer & Water Improvement Charges for 234 Westover Avenue ($21,075.29)
Memorandum
Your approval is requested to levy the sanitary sewer and water improvement charges of $21,075.29 on the property known as 234 Westover Avenue. The vacant parcel was annexed to the City of Ann Arbor on September 17, 2007, per the State of Michigan, and was recently developed. The applicable connection charges have been paid and the property is “active” for sanitary sewer and water service as of December 19, 2008.
According to current procedures, the property owner needs to now pay the property’s share of the existing utilities through the City improvement charge levy as required under section 1:278, Chapter 12, of the Ann Arbor Code. The $21,075.29 Utilities Improvement Charge is to be levied and then made payable in 15 annual installments at 5.27% interest per annum on the unpaid balance.
It is therefore recommended that Council levy these improvement charges according to
the terms described above.
