Title
Resolution to Approve Changes to the Precinct Boundaries between Precincts 3-3, 3-4 and 3-7 in the Third Ward and Create New Precinct 3-10 in Order to Balance the Number of Registered Voters and Manage Voter Turnout in Each Precinct
Body
Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor Election Commission must finalize any precinct boundary changes for the 2018 election cycle not later than 210 days prior to the August 2018 Primary Election, pursuant to MCL 168.661;

Whereas, Precinct 3-3 in the Third Ward has nearly 2700 registered voters and very high voter turnout;

Whereas, Precinct 3-7 is currently a split County Commissioner district;

Whereas, Creating a new Precinct 3-10 from portions of Precincts 3-3 and 3-4 would reduce registration numbers allowing for a more manageable voter turnout in all three precincts;

Whereas, Redrawing the boundary between Precincts 3-4 and 3-7 would eliminate the split County Commissioner district in Precinct 3-7; and

Whereas, The new Precinct 3-10 would be co-located with Precinct 3-3 at Tappan Middle School, 2251 E. Stadium Boulevard, to allow for a consolidated precinct and efficient use of resources in smaller local elections;

RESOLVED, That the new voting boundaries for Precincts 3-3, 3-4, 3-7 and 3-10 in the Third Ward as indicated on the attached Precinct Maps and Precinct Descriptions be approved;

RESOLVED, That the new precinct boundaries as indicated on the attached Precinct Maps and Precinct Descriptions be effective February 8, 2018;

RESOLVED, That the City Clerk be authorized to take any administrative action necessary to implement this resolution; and

RESOLVED, That a certified copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Washtenaw County Clerk and the Michigan Secretary of State, Bureau of Elections.
