Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the summary publication of Ordinance No. 09-03 to amend Chapter 26 of Title II of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor.
 
The City Charter contains provisions to allow summary publications of ordinances that are in excess of 500 words in length.  The purpose of this resolution is to lessen the City's cost resulting from the required publication of the revisions to the City Code.

Whereas, Section 7.4 of the City Charter authorizes the publication by summary of ordinances over 500 words in length;
 
RESOLVED, That Ordinance No. 09-03 be published by the following summary:
 
Ordinance 09-03 amends the existing Chapter 26 of Title II of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor to 1) provide for an exclusive service provider for the collection and disposal of solid waste for commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-family users through city operations and/or by competitive procurement of one or more contracts with qualified licensed service providers, 2) require the providers of solid waste collection services to commercial, industrial and multi-family users to be licensed and 3) establish recycling requirements for commercial locations within the city.
