Title
Resolution to Approve the Closing of State Street from William to Liberty Streets and North University between State and Fletcher Streets for the Watch the Game on State Street Event from 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 until 1:00 AM on Sunday, October 22, 2017
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the State Street District to close State Street from William to Liberty Streets and North University between State and Fletcher Streets on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 AM on Sunday, October 22, 2017 for the Watch the Game on State Street event. The time of the University vs. Penn State game will not be confirmed until eight days prior to the scheduled date, so the applicant has left the times wide open to be able to adjust as the game time is confirmed.

The State Street Area Association is excited to bring entertainment, including live music to downtown Ann Arbor. This event will be particularly exciting as it will allow all participants to watch the University of Michigan vs. Penn State game on portable big screens at either end of State Street. There will be a beer garden and DJ included in this event.

The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas, pursuant to the MLCC regulations.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses. Notification of the street closings will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery and the sponsor's website and social media. Neighboring businesses will be informed of this event via the District.
