Title

Resolution to Approve Hampton Inn Development Agreement Amendment #2, 2910 Jackson Road

Memorandum

On September 3, 2013, City Council approved the Hampton Inn Planned Project Site Plan to construct a new 100 room hotel on this 8.8 acre site. An earlier site plan for a similar hotel project on the site had expired.

The earlier project had a development agreement that was executed September 30, 2010. On September 3, 2013, City Council also approved Amendment #1 to the Hampton Inn development agreement, which addressed footing drain disconnects and winter snow removal.

After City Council approval, city engineering staff and the Michigan Department of Transportation determined that construction of a crosswalk across Jackson Road, as shown on the approved Planned Project Site Plan, is not safe due to vehicular travel speeds and limited sight lines.

The development agreement modification requires the proprietor, United Condominium Development Association, to pay $18,607.42 toward future installation of pedestrian improvements across Jackson Road, by the City of Ann Arbor or Michigan Department of Transportation.

Approval of the attached resolution will allow changes to the development agreement and allow the proprietor to move forward in obtaining a final certificate of occupancy for the hotel, which is currently operating under a temporary CO pending completion of this amendment.
