Resolution Recognizing Bryant-Pattengill PTO as a Civic Nonprofit Organization Operating in Ann Arbor for the Purpose of Obtaining a Charitable Gaming License
Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Bryant-Pattengill PTO is a 501(c)3 civic nonprofit organization that promotes a close relationship between home and school, encourages cooperation among parents, teachers and school administrators in the education of Bryant and Pattengill children and enhances the academic cultural and social development of Bryant and Pattengill students.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Bryant-Pattengill PTO to hold an Ice Cream Social featuring a raffle and silent action. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, Bryant-Pattengill PTO has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and
