Resolution to Approve Fees for the 2017 Ann Arbor Art Fairs, July 19-23, 2017
Memorandum
The 2017 Ann Arbor Art Fairs are scheduled for Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, July 23 2017. The Ann Arbor Art Fairs have previously been held Wednesday through Saturday. The event is sponsored by five separate organizations, each covering separate but adjacent portions of downtown Ann Arbor. Each organization will be providing insurance in accordance with the City's requirements for use of the public right-of-way.
The annual resolution closes streets and allows temporary outdoor sales within the public right-of-way. This resolution was approved on June 5, 2017 (R-17-182). The City Administrator has granted a one-time fee waiver to the Art Fairs in the amount of $28,000.00. The balance of the remaining City charges for the Art Fairs is estimated at $xxxxxx and each fair will thus be charged the following:
Ann Arbor Street Art Fair $15,778.00
South University Area Association $22,860.00
State Street Association $32,309.00
The Guild $28,602.00
Non-Profits $300.00
Each organization will be providing insurance in accordance with the City's requirements for use of the public right of way.
Coordination of the Event
This event is coordinated through the Mayor's Art Fair Committee so that it will run smoothly and be successful. The applicants from the Art Fair Associations and the Washtenaw Non Profits are requesting the street closings per the attached map. In addition, the Washtenaw Non Profits are requesting that fee be retained at the 1997 fee schedule ($300.00) for their organization.
Regulation of the Event
The following list of resolutions and ordinances apply specifically to the Art Fair, and are either granted each year by Council Resolution or permanently in place by previous action:
