Resolution to Approve the Purchase of Three Dump Bodies from Automotive Service Company ($55,501.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of three dump bodies from Automotive Service Company that will be mounted on truck cab and chassis that have recently been purchased by the City. Two of the dump bodies have a rigid side configuration at a price of $18,312.00 each and the other dump body has a fold down side configuration at a price of $18,877.00 for a total cost of $55,501.00.

Two of the dump bodies will be mounted to trucks for use in the Public Works, Water Utilities Unit. Both vehicles will also have front snowplows installed. Truck #2506 will be replaced by truck #2505 at a cost of $35,291.00 (cab/chassis) and $18,312.00 (dump body) and $4,999.00 (snowplow) for a total vehicle cost of $58,602.00. Truck #2507 will be replaced by truck #2504 at a cost of $35,291.00 (cab/chassis), $18,312.00 (dump body) and $4,999.00 (snowplow) for a total vehicle cost of $58,602.00.

The remaining dump body will be mounted to a truck for use in the Public Works, Streets Maintenance Unit. This vehicle will also have a front snowplow installed. Truck #4504 will be replaced by truck #4500 at a cost of $32,726.00 (cab/chassis) and $18,877.00 (dump body) and $4,999.00 (snowplow) for a total vehicle cost of $56,602.00.

Proposals were solicited by the City through ITB #4489. Two proposals were received and the bid from Automotive Service Company, Jackson, MI was the lowest responsible bidder.

The Fleet & Facility Unit has adequate funds for this purchase in their FY 2017 budget. The Major Streets Fund has adequate funds for this purchase in their FY 2017 budget.
Automotive Service Company complies with the requirements of the City's non-discrimination ordinances.
