Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of Two Tandem Axle Dump Trucks from D & K Truck Company (ITB #4486; $329,678.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of two 2018 Western Star 4700 tandem axle trucks with dump bodies from D & K Truck Company, Lansing, MI for use by the Public Services Area, Public Works Unit. Both trucks will have 14' steel dump bodies and underbody scrapers installed. The price for each dump truck with underbody scraper will be $164,839.00 for a total cost of $329,678.00. The trucks will be used in Utilities operations.

Bids were solicited for the two-tandem axle dump trucks through ITB #4486 issued by the City and opened on May 8, 2017. Of the two responses received, D & K Truck Company was selected as the most responsive proposal to the ITB. The proposal from the low bidder had a number of exceptions from the bid specifications.

The trucks listed in this resolution will replace two existing dump trucks. A 2008 Sterling tandem axle dump truck (#2558) which has 5,552 hours of use and a repair cost that exceeds 94% of the purchase price of the vehicle. A 2008 Sterling tandem axle dump truck (#2559) which has 4,959 hours of use and a repair cost that exceeds 101% of the purchase price of the vehicle. Both trucks are used in Utilities operations to tow equipment to and from jobsites, move materials during utility repairs, and to plow snow during winter weather events.

Adequate funding for the purchase of these vehicles has been budgeted in the Fleet Services Fund FY18 approved operations and maintenance budget, and the FY 18 approved Water Utilities Fund, Public Works operations and maintenance budget.

D & K Truck Company complies with the requirements of the City's Non-Discrimination Ordinances.
