Title
Resolution to Approve Closing of Monroe Street between State Street and Oakland Avenue on September 8-10 and 15-17, 2017 from 9:00 AM each Friday until 11:00 AM each Sunday for the Michigan Law School Reunion Tailgates
Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a request from the University of Michigan to close Monroe Street between State Street and Oakland Avenue on September 8-10 and 15-17, 2017 from 9:00 AM each Friday until 11:00 AM each Sunday. The actual events will occur on Saturday the 9th and 16th. The extra days will be used for set-up and take-down. The University of Michigan continues to celebrate its Bicentennial this year, and many activities are being held to recognize this milestone. As such, the Law School would like to hold tailgate weekends to welcome Alumni back on campus. Ann Arbor City Police will deny these events as is their practice to do so on events that occur on home game weekends. The Law School will utilize University of Michigan Police for these events.

The applicant agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City's website and GovDelivery, as well as the University of Michigan's Communications Office.

The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
