Resolution to Approve Closing South University from Linden to Oxford Streets for the Angell Elementary Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM
Memorandum
The City has received a request from the sponsor, Angell Elementary PTO to hold an Ice Cream Social. This free event is open to anyone and no registration is required. The sponsor is requesting this street closure to keep the Angell Elementary students safer with no car traffic on that part of the road near the school as well as to provide for more activities, giving the land-locked school more space for the attendees. While the event has been happening for many years, this is the first request for a street closure in order to gain more space and safety.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City's website, GovDelivery and through the sponsor contacting impacted residents no later than one week prior to the event.
