Resolution to Amend the FY 09 Insurance Fund Budget by Appropriating Funds from the Fund Balance of the Insurance Fund ($26,000.00) (8 Votes Required)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the transfer and appropriation of $26,000.00 from the fund balance of the Insurance Fund to the current Fiscal Year (FY 09).
The Safety and Training Unit of Public Services intended to perform an Occupational Noise Exposure Hearing Conservation Program in FY 08 but were unable to complete it due to time constraints. The program will capture a baseline audiogram test on employees that perform work on a daily basis around loud equipment and noises. Once the testing is completed, areas of high risk for hearing loss will be identified and changes made to reduce the risk or exposure. This is a required MIOSHA program.
Because the Insurance Fund did not expend all FY 08 funds that were budgeted in Agency 073, Professional and Consulting Budget, the attached resolution asks for your approval to appropriate to the current budget year, FY 09, $26,000.00 of unexpended funds that returned to the fund balance of the Insurance Fund on or after July 1, 2008.

Whereas, An Occupational Noise Exposure Hearing Conservation Program budgeted in FY 08 in the Insurance Fund was not completed at fiscal year end; and
Whereas, Unexpended funds from FY 08 returned to the fund balance of the Insurance Fund on or after July 1, 2008;
RESOLVED, That the City Council approves an amendment to the Insurance Fund budget, by appropriating funds in the amount of $26,000.00 from the fund balance of the Insurance Fund to its FY 09 Operating Budget; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator be authorized to take any other necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
