Title
Resolution to Approve the Purchase of a Semi-Tractor from D & K Truck Company (ITB #4463; $143,955.00)
Memorandum
The attached resolution authorizes the purchase of one 2018 Western Star 4900 semi-tractor from D & K Truck Company, Lansing, MI for use by the Public Services Area, Public Works Unit (Streets Maintenance Operations).

The vehicle listed in this resolution is used to pull a variety of flatbed trailers used to haul large pieces of equipment and dump trailers used to transport materials such as sand, stone and asphalt.

Bids were solicited for the semi-tractor through ITB #4463 issued by the City and opened on February 21, 2017. Of the two responses received, D & K Truck Company, Lansing, MI, was selected as the most responsive proposal to the ITB. The price of the semi-tractor is $143,955.00. A bid option for a larger engine ($1,300.00) and for an extended warranty on the after treatment system ($600.00) were not selected by the City and are not part of the award price.

The truck will replace an existing 1997 semi-tractor which has 10,975 hours of use and whose repair cost has exceeded 292% of the purchase price of the vehicle.

Adequate funding for the purchase of this vehicle is available in the approved FY 17 Fleet Services and Local Street Fund Operations and Maintenance Budgets.

D & K Truck Company complies with the requirements of the City's non-discrimination ordinances.
