Resolution to Approve a Service Contract with the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center, for Confidential Victim Support Services ($115,875.00)
Memorandum
This resolution seeks approval for a Service Contract between the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center, and the City of Ann Arbor, on behalf of the 15th Judicial District Court, subject to the availability of funding through the Office on Violence Against Women of the Department of Justice Grant Award 2016-WE-AX-0031 awarded to the 15th Judicial District Court and accepted on behalf of the Court by Council on November 21, 2016 (R-16-446).
Domestic Violence Project, Inc. provides confidential support, information and referrals for victims of domestic violence and intimate partner stalking cases; monitors court and probation activity as it relates to victim safety; works collaboratively to enhance victim safety; and offer advice and training to judges, magistrates, probation, and community partners. The City, through this contract, would compensate the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center, for these services in a total amount not to exceed $115,875.00.

Whereas, The 15th Judicial District Court has been awarded and Council has accepted an Office on Violence Against Women of the Department of Justice Grant for the period of October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2019 or as may be extended by the U.S. Department of Justice;
Whereas, The Grant award includes funds to compensate the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center, for confidential victim support, referrals, staff training and case monitoring as well as other related domestic violence prevention services;
Whereas, The 15th Judicial District Court has determined that Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center, is an appropriate and skilled provider of such services; and
Whereas, It is in the best interests of the City of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County as well as the best interests of justice to enter into a Service Contract with the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center;
RESOLVED, That City Council approve the Service Contract in a total amount not to exceed $115,875.00 under the terms specified in this Resolution;
RESOLVED, That City Council authorize funding of the contract with Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a.k.a. SafeHouse Center, for the term of the grant including any extensions authorized by the U.S. Department of Justice, without regard to City Fiscal Year;
RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute the contract after approval as to form by the City Attorney and as to substance by the City Administrator; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator is authorized to take all necessary administrative actions to implement this resolution.
