Resolution to Approve Closing of East Washington Street for Arbor Brewing Company’s St. Patrick’s Day Beer Garden on Friday, March 17, 2017

Attached for your consideration and approval is a request from Arbor Brewing Company to close half the block of East Washington Street from South Main Street to the public alley toward South Fourth Avenue starting at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 11:00 P.M. The parking structure will remain open and accessible throughout the event. This event celebrates St. Patrick’s Day for patrons.
The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.
Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and the applicant’s notification to all impacted businesses and residents through social media, flyers and, when available, face-to-face contact.
The sponsor will submit an application for approval from the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for temporary sales, service and consumption of alcoholic beverages in the defined areas pursuant to the MLCC regulations.

Whereas, The City received a request from Arbor Brewing Company to close half the block of East Washington Street from South Main Street to the public alley toward South Fourth Avenue from 11:00 AM on Friday, March 17, 2017 through 11:00 PM;
Whereas, The street closure will be properly signed, barricaded and supervised by the sponsor;
Whereas, The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street and will reimburse the City for all event expenses;
Whereas, Impacted businesses and residents will be notified of the event by the sponsor and further notification will be provided through the City’s website and GovDelivery; and

RESOLVED, That City Council approve the closing of East Washington from South Main Street to the public alley toward South Fourth Avenue from 11:00 AM through 11:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2017 for Arbor Brewing Company’s St. Patrick’s Day Beer Garden.
