Resolution to Approve a Memorandum of Understanding Regarding a Student Advisory Council and to Appoint a City Council Representative
Memo
The attached Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City, the University of Michigan, and the Ann Arbor Public Schools outlines a Student Advisory Council, whose purpose is to promote dialogue and increased collaboration among students and the City on policies, programs, and actions affecting all stakeholders. The Student Advisory Council will be an independent entity and is expected to be primarily organized and run by the student representatives with the assistance of staff from the University of Michigan. The City’s representation will consist of one member of City Council and the City Administrator or designee.

Whereas, City Council has identified a need to be informed regarding the current concerns of students in the community, both from the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor Public Schools;
Whereas, City Council recognizes that City participation in a Student Advisory Council consisting of students, staff, and a City Council member would be helpful to maintain an ongoing dialogue regarding student concerns; and
Whereas, The University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor Public Schools have expressed support for a Student Advisory Council as set forth in the attached Memorandum of Understanding;
RESOLVED, That City Council hereby approves the Memorandum of Understanding Regarding the Student Advisory Council in substantially the form of that attached; and
RESOLVED, That City Council hereby appoints Councilmember Julie Grand as the City Council representative to the Student Advisory Council.
