Whereas, The Ann Arbor City Council stands in proud support of the rights of immigrant students and communities, as well as the principles of democracy and equality;

Whereas, The Deferred Action for Child Arrivals Program ("DACA") enacted in 2012 by Presidential Executive Order has been characterized as the most important and far reaching immigration reform adopted during President Obama's presidency;

Whereas, The DACA offered millions of youth the opportunity to come out of the shadows and to live free from fear of imminent deportation;

Whereas, Deferred action is a discretionary determination to defer removal action of an individual as an act of prosecutorial discretion; to be considered for this process an undocumented youth must show that:

* Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday.
* Have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007 up to the present time
* Were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012.
* Entered without inspection before June 15, 2012, or had lawful immigration status expire before June 15, 2012.
* Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained your certificate of completion from high school, have obtained your general education development certification, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States.
* Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or three or more misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security.
* Were present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making the request for consideration of deferred action with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).
