Memorandum
The 15th Judicial District Court has been notified by the Office on Violence Against Women at the U.S. Department of Justice that the Court's application for funding under the Improving Criminal Justice Responses Program in the amount of $391,097.00 has been approved. The Improving Criminal Justice Responses Program is designed to encourage partnerships between: state, local and tribal governments; courts; victim service providers; coalitions; and rape crisis centers to ensure that sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking are treated as serious violations of criminal law. The term of the grant is October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2019, unless extended by the Department of Justice.

Under the terms of the three-year county-wide grant, the City will be reimbursed: $222,500.00 towards the salary of one FTE Domestic Violence Probation Agent; $27,722.00 for the salary and fringe benefits of one PTE Data Entry Clerk; $115,875 for victim advocate services provided by SafeHouse Center (a/k/a Domestic Violence Project) per contract; $15,000.00 for 600 Alternatives to Domestic Aggression Accountability workbooks, which will be used by grantee-referred participants of the Alternatives to Domestic Aggression batterer intervention program; and, $10,000.00 for training expenses mandated by the Department of Justice.

No matching funds are required.

At the discretion of the City Finance Director, the Court will establish a separate grant account with the City Finance Department and will take all other necessary steps to assure the effective administration of this grant.
