Memorandum
To obtain a charitable gaming license under Michigan law, a nonprofit organization is required to submit a resolution from its local governing body recognizing it as a community-based organization.

Haiti Nursing Foundation is a 501(c)3 civic nonprofit organization that promotes the advancement of nursing in Haiti, focusing on nursing education, especially on Faculty of Nursing Science of the Episcopal University of Haiti (FSIL), located in Leogane, Haiti.

Passage of the attached resolution will allow the Haiti Nursing Foundation to hold a live and silent auction and raffle at the Ann Arbor City Club, located at 1830 Washtenaw, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Passage of this resolution is required in order to obtain final approval from the Charitable Gaming Division of the Bureau of State Lottery for this event and any future events.

Whereas, P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, requires that local civic nonprofit organizations be recognized by resolution adopted by the local governmental subdivision in which the organization conducts its principal activities and that a copy of said resolution be filed with any application for a license to conduct a bingo, raffle or charity game(s);

Whereas, Haiti Nursing Foundation has requested that it be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license; and

Whereas, Haiti Nursing Foundation is a local civic nonprofit organization as defined by P.A. 382 of 1972, as amended, which should be recognized for the advancement of nursing in Haiti;
