Resolution to Approve a Contract Agreement with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Border to Border Trail Reconstruction - Gallup Park Segment, Contract #16-5187 ($699,100.00)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and consideration, please find a resolution to approve a contract agreement between the City of Ann Arbor and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the reconstruction of a Gallup Park segment of the Border to Border Trail. The agreement defines the cost sharing of the construction, as well as each party's rights and responsibilities, and is required for the project to receive its share of federal funding from the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP).

The Gallup Park Border to Border trail reconstruction project consists of the removal and replacement of the trail at a 10' width from the parking lot west of Huron Parkway to Dixboro Road, including barrier free access from the parking lot to the trail, bicycle parking, culvert improvement, restoration, permanent signage, and pavement marking at the parking lot. The reconstruction project would bring the pathway into American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) compliance.

Construction is expected to begin by mid-July, and be completed by September, 2016.

This memorandum and resolution were prepared prior to the letting date, so bid results were not available. MDOT will award a contract to the qualified low bidder and administer the contract. Stantec Consulting is acting as the Project Engineer, and the City is managing the project administration.

The engineer's estimate for the project's construction is $699,100.00. The estimated total cost of the project is $862,308.00. I...
