Attached for your approval is a request to close Detroit Street from Catherine to North 5th Avenue for the Farmers Market Birthday Event on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 5:00 AM until 4:30 PM. The actual event will take place from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM with the additional time for set-up and break-down.
The City of Ann Arbor’s Farmers Market is marking its 97th birthday this year and is listed as the best place to shop for local produce, handmade artisan products, and specialty foods. To commemorate the occasion, a birthday celebration will be held featuring live music, ice cream, games and other fun-filled activities. This street closure will help facilitate a safe and fun atmosphere for this celebration.

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor Farmers Market would like to close Detroit Street from Catherine to North 5th Avenue to celebrate the Market’s 97th birthday on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 5:00 AM until 4:30 PM;
Whereas, The street closure will be signed, barricaded and properly supervised by staff; and
Whereas, Notification of the street closing will be provided through the City’s website, GovDelivery and Parks’ communications;
RESOLVED, That Council approve the closing of Detroit Street from Catherine to North 5th Avenue for the Farmers Market Birthday Event on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 5:00 AM until 4:30 PM.
