Resolution to Approve a Grant Contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Purchase of New Broom and Blower Attachments as Snow Removal Equipment at the Ann Arbor Municipal Airport ($113,000.00)
Memorandum
Attached for your review and approval is a resolution to approve a grant contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation-Office of Aeronautics (MDOT-Aero) in the amount of $113,000.00 for the purchase of a new 12' runway broom attachment and a new snow blower attachment for the wheel loader that was purchased last year. These attachments will improve the airport's ability to remove snow and maintain a safe runway environment. The grant also includes $16,000.00 that will be used to refresh paint markings on the airfield's paved surfaces.

The purchase of the 12' broom attachment was under the dollar amount that required Council approval. The award of the snow blower attachment was approved by City Council at their March 21, 2016 meeting since the item has a very long delivery time. The paint marking project will be coordinated through a State of Michigan marking program later this summer.

The grant amount of $113,000.00 is comprised of $101,700.00 in federal funds, $5,650.00 in state funds and $5,650.00 in airport matching funds. The airport's share of this grant is included in the approved FY 2016 Airport operating budget. All funding (local, state and federal) for this project will come from fees paid by users of aviation industry services. The grant is administered by MDOT-Aero.
