Resolution Establishing the Old Fourth Ward Boundary Modification Historic District Study Committee

Body

Whereas, The City has expressed its interest in protecting and preserving historic properties in the City;

 

Whereas, On August 15, 1983 Council established the Old Fourth Ward Historic District;

 

Whereas, The property owner at 412 East Huron has requested that City Council remove the property at 412 East Huron from the Old Fourth Ward Historic District because of encroaching commercial development;

 

Whereas, Pursuant to Michigan’s Local Historic Districts Act (PA 169 of 1970 as amended), and Chapter 103, Section 8:410 of Ann City Arbor Code , the City Council must establish and receive a report from a historic district study committee before establishing, modifying, or eliminating a historic district;

 

RESOLVED, That City Council hereby establishes the Old Fourth Ward Boundary Modification Historic District Study Committee;

 

RESOLVED, That the area to be examined by this committee (“Study Area”) be the property at 412 East Huron;

 

RESOLVED, That the charge of the study committee be those duties set forth in Sections 8:408 and 8:410 of Chapter 103 of the Ann Arbor City Code;

 

RESOLVED, That this study committee consist of seven members to be appointed by City Council, including at least one member from a local preservation organization and three members who live in the Old Fourth Ward Historic District; and

 

RESOLVED, That the term of this study committee be one year from the date of the committee members’ appointment and it report it’s findings and recommendations to the City Council no later than January, 2010.
