Memorandum
Approval of this ordinance will rezone the property at 1528 Pontiac Trail to PUD to allow a museum highlighting the African American culture and history in Washtenaw County. The house on the property, which is the historic Polhemus house moved from its original location on East Washington Street, will undergo interior and exterior renovations. The historical residential appearance of the house will be maintained. Included with the PUD ordinance are supplemental regulations, which have been reviewed and found acceptable by the Attorney’s Office.

The City Planning Commission recommended approval of this request at its meeting of August 5, 2008. The PUD site plan for this proposal will be submitted for Council consideration at the same meeting as the public hearing and second reading for the PUD rezoning.
