PROCLAMATION
Recognizing Community Television Network’s 35th Anniversary
September 5th, 2008
WHEREAS, The City of Ann Arbor has long believed in and promoted the concept of community access television, and was one of the first cities in the country to create an organization to provide this service; and
WHEREAS, In 1973 Community Television network began providing a variety of media services to allow residents, non-profit organizations, service clubs, educational institutions, government agencies, and elected officials to speak directly to the Ann Arbor community through the powerful medium of cable television; and
WHEREAS, Now, 35 years later, Ann Arbor’s Community Television Network has grown to four channels (16,17,18, and 19 on Comcast Cable), providing Ann Arbor government and education meetings, original programs and public access to homes across the greater Ann Arbor area; and
WHEREAS, Community Television Network is holding a public celebration on September 5, 2008, from 3-7p.m. to mark it’s 35th Anniversary and facility grand opening at 2805 S. Industrial Highway, suite 200, in Ann Arbor; and
WHEREAS, The City of Ann Arbor commends Community Television Network’s staff, Cable Communications Commission, volunteers and community groups who have made this achievement possible.
NOW THEREFORE, I, John Hieftje, Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, do hereby congratulate Community Television Network on its 35th Anniversary and proclaim September 5th, 2008, as its Open House and Facility Grand Opening to honor its achievements in the City of Ann Arbor.
