Title
Partnership with Ann Arbor District Library to Digitize Council Proceedings through 1930
Memorandum
The City Clerk's Office has entered into an agreement with the Ann Arbor District Library to loan the Library the first 17 volumes of Council proceedings books (minutes) on file in the City Clerk's Office, for a digitization project at the Library. These volumes include historical proceedings of the City Council beginning with the year 1891. The project will make available online versions of the books, which will be fully searchable and will make retrieval of historical data and information much more accessible to the public as well as to City staff.

The volumes are on loan to the Ann Arbor District Library for approximately four weeks and they will be returned to the City Clerk in the same condition as they were loaned. The scanning and digitizing of the books will be handled by National Archive Publishing Company, located in Ann Arbor. The books will not be disbinded during the scanning process.

This project is fully funded by the Ann Arbor District Library, with the City's cooperation to loan the books, in order to make available this important historical data to the residents of Ann Arbor. As future funding allows, it is the hope of both the City Clerk's Office and the District Library that additional volumes after 1930 could be included in the project.
