Resolution to Extend Vendor Licenses for FY 08

Whereas, On March 17, 2008, the Ann Arbor City Council adopted Resolution No. R-08-122 directing the City Administrator to engage and receive comment from the many stakeholders involved, including, but not limited to, sidewalk vendors, the University of Michigan, the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce, the Main Street Area Association, the State Street Area Association, the South University Area Association, and the public, and to provide a report and recommendations on revisions to policies, fee structures and ordinances necessary to create a sidewalk vendor program that is enforceable and works for the betterment of the community;
Whereas, City Council directed the City Administrator to extend all existing permits for an additional 90 days from the date of expiration (March 31, 2008) to June 30, 2008;
Whereas, City staff has engaged and received comments from the many stakeholders; and
Whereas, Due to the complexity of this matter and implications on current operations and activities associated with vending operations in the City, additional time is needed in order to prepare an appropriate recommendation;
RESOLVED, That City Council directs the City Administrator to extend permits an additional 90 days; and
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator shall provide a report and recommendations on revisions to policies, fee structures and ordinances necessary to create a sidewalk vendor program that is enforceable and works for the betterment of the community by September 8, 2008.
