Resolution Establishing the Liquor License Review Committee as a Permanent Council Committee

Whereas, The City Council established an Ad-Hoc Liquor License Committee on February 20, 2007, for the purpose of recommending to City Council the award of a Class C liquor license available to the City of Ann Arbor under quota;
Whereas, The expiration date for the Ad-Hoc Liquor Committee was extended by City Council on June 18, 2007 and again on October 15, 2007;
Whereas, The current expiration of the Committee is April 30, 2008;
Whereas, The Ad-Hoc Liquor Committee is actively considering policy recommendations regarding an annual review of permitted liquor licenses, policy recommendations regarding the newly established downtown "development district" for liquor licensing and applications for this type of license, policy recommendations regarding review of the transfer of licenses, and possible future ordinance changes to implement these policies, and;
Whereas, At its meeting of April 25, 2008, the Committee recommended that it become a permanent committee of Council;
RESOLVED, That the Ad-Hoc Liquor License Committee be established effective this date as a permanent Council committee with the name, "Liquor License Review Committee";
RESOLVED, That the Liquor License Review Committee shall be comprised of four members of the City Council; and
RESOLVED, That this committee shall be tasked with handling all matters in the City related to liquor licensing, including the recommendation of City ordinances and policies, review and recommendation to Council of all new and transferring liquor licenses and any other matters pertaining to liquor licenses that may come before City Council.
