Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to close E. Washington Street from South Fifth Avenue to South Division Street for the Neutral Zone Block Party on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 1:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. The event itself will take place from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the additional time used for set up and clean up.

This event will be held in conjunction with the Neutral Zone’s seniors honor night. The event is not a fundraiser, but rather a community celebration of the Neutral Zone’s ten years of dedication to Ann Arbor’s teens. It will feature live music, games, contests, food and sale of teen art.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the streets and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

The sponsor will mail written notice to all affected businesses, religious institutions and area residents not less than 14 days prior to the event.

The event has been coordinated with all relevant City service areas for the purposes of traffic control and for the protection of the health and safety of the participants and the general public.
