Attached for your review and action is a resolution to approve contract change order No. 1 in the amount of $19,475.50, increasing the total contract amount to $163,174.00 with Margolis Companies, Inc. for bid #3868, to complete the Swift Run Dog Park construction.
On September 4, 2007 City Council awarded Margolis Companies, Inc. a construction contract for the Swift Run Dog Park Construction, Resolution No. 426-9-07. The construction budget established at that time was $143,698.50, which included a ten percent construction contingency for the life of the project from the Parks Rehabilitation and Development Millage (Fund 0018). The additional funds in the amount of $19,475.50 are needed to finalize the improvements at the Swift Run Dog Park.
Several site factors contributed to this request for additional funds. These include unforeseen grading issues, and additional work of trucking, rough grading, site surveying, fine grading, and seeding of added soils to comply with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality conditional requirements for use of the site. The additional work is needed to satisfactorily complete the project elements as determined by the approved design details.
It is therefore recommended that the contract change order with Margolis Companies, Inc. in the amount of $19,475.50 be approved.
