Resolution Supporting Governor Granholm's Proposed Increase in Statutory Revenue Sharing
Body
Whereas, On February 7, 2008, Governor Jennifer Granholm proposed a 4% increase in statutory revenue sharing as part of the proposed fiscal year 2008-2009 State of Michigan Budget; and
 
Whereas, Statutory revenue sharing plays an integral part in allowing local governments the ability to provide services and programs that create the quality of life that is necessary to attract the talent and employers Michigan needs to compete in the new economy; and
 
Whereas, The Ann Arbor City Council applauds Governor Granholm for recognizing the important role that municipalities have in maintaining safe places to live, work, and play, and in moving Michigan forward;
 
RESOLVED, That the Ann Arbor City Council endorses Governor Granholm's recommended 4% increase in statutory revenue sharing in the 2008-2009 State of Michigan Budget;
 
RESOLVED, That the Ann Arbor City Council urges Senator Liz Brater, Representative Pam Byrnes, and Representative Rebekah Warren to work diligently to enact Governor Granholm's proposed increase in statutory revenue sharing;
 
RESOLVED, That the City Administrator is directed to send a copy of this resolution to Governor Jennifer Granholm, Senator Liz Brater, Representative Pam Byrnes, and Representative Rebekah Warren.
