Memorandum
Effective November 21, 2007, a new ordinance was established for the promotion and funding for Art in Public Places.  Chapter 24, Public Art, provides that certain capital improvement projects include funds for public art equal to 1% of the construction costs, to a maximum of $250,000.00 per project.  For fiscal year 2008, the City has identified capital projects totaling $32,868,941.00 from various funds as eligible for contributing funds to public art.  A summary of those projects has been attached.

The City of Ann Arbor is requesting the City Council authorize the City Administrator, or his designee, to appropriate monies from the applicable funds in the amount of $328,689.00 to the newly established Public Art fund and establish a expenditure budget in this fund without regard to fiscal year.
