Resolution Creating Golf Courses Advisory Task Force

Whereas, The City of Ann Arbor owns and operates Huron Hills and Leslie Park Golf Courses;
Whereas, An Ad-Hoc Golf Advisory Committee consisting of one Councilmember, 1 Parks Advisory Commission member, 1 citizen with current commercial golf operations experience, and the City of Ann Arbor’s Golf Operations Manager, was constituted in June 2007 to evaluate and recommend a golf consultant to study the City golf operations, and review the consultant’s execution and progress;
Whereas, Golf Convergence, Inc. (GCI) was hired in July 2007 to evaluate the City golf operations, provide an overview of the current market, evaluate the City golf operations’ future viability and profitability, and provide a recommended course of action for the golf properties by December 2007;
Whereas, Over the course of its contract, GCI held public meetings to gather input from citizens and golfers about Leslie Park and Huron Hills Golf Courses;
Whereas, GCI. developed a business plan for Leslie Park and Huron Hills Golf Courses that was presented to the Parks Advisory Commission and City Council in November and December 2007; and
Whereas, Community members have recently expressed significant interest in the continued operations of the City’s golf courses;
RESOLVED, That the City Council hereby forms a Golf Courses Advisory Task Force to provide input and advice to City staff, as City Staff prepares recommendations on the future of the City’s golf operations to the Parks Advisory Commission and City Council;
RESOLVED, That the Golf Courses Advisory Task Force be comprised of 8 members including 1 Councilmember, 1 Parks Advisory Commission member, 1 current commercial golf operations expert, 3 Ann Arbor citizens with demonstrated golf operations expertise, 1 citizen with group golf play experience, and one at-large Ann Arbor golf courses patron, nominated and approved by the Mayor and City Council;
