Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of certain streets for the Shamrocks and Shenanigans 5K Run and Kids Dash on March 16, 2008.

The event has been endorsed by Running Fit, Blue Care Network of Michigan, Gordon Foods, Conor O’Neills, Michigan Radio, Cliff Bar, Asics, and Dollar Bill Copying.

The Runs will require closing of the following streets from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. on March 16, 2008:

• First Street from W. Jefferson to Huron Street
• Ashley Street from W. Jefferson to Huron Street
• S. Main Street from W. William Street to Huron Street
• Washington Street from the alley between First Street and Third Street to the alley between S. Main Street and S. Fourth Avenue
• Liberty Street from the railroad tracks to the alley between S. Main Street and S. Fourth Avenue
• W. William Street from Second Street to S. Main Street
• W. Jefferson from First Street to S. Main Street

Refreshments will be served to race participants in front of Conor O’Neills.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required, to comply with all City and state regulations governing the use of the streets, and will reimburse the City for all event expenses.

The sponsor will mail written notice to all affected businesses, religious institutions and area residents not less than 14 days prior to the event.

The Ann Arbor Track Club will also be sponsoring a Walk to take place entirely on the City sidewalks during the same time frame. The Walk will begin at the corner of Hill Street and State Street, continue on State Street to Liberty Street, Liberty Street to Main Street, Main Street to Conor O’Neill’s and then return by the same route to the finish at the corner of Hill Street and State Street.
