Memorandum
Attached for your consideration is a resolution to approve the closing of E. Liberty Street between S. Fifth Avenue and S. Division Street for the deLights are Goin’ on Downtown special event on Friday, November 16, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The Main Street Area Association is sponsoring this event to be held in conjunction with the City’s tree lighting ceremony.

The sponsor agrees to obtain all necessary permits, to provide evidence of proper liability insurance as required and to comply with all City regulations governing the use of the street. The estimated cost for providing City services during the event is $300.00. The sponsor will notify all affected religious institutions, businesses and residents in writing not less than 14 days before the event.

Traffic plans have been coordinated with Police, Fire and Transportation.

Whereas, The Main Street Area Association is sponsoring the deLights are Goin’ on Downtown special event on Friday, November 16, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.;

Whereas, The event is being held in conjunction with the City’s tree lighting ceremony;

Whereas, In order to accommodate the estimated 500 people participating in the event, the Main Street Area Association has requested that E. Liberty Street between S. Fifth Avenue and S. Division Street be closed from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM;

Whereas, The street closure will be signed and barricaded by the sponsor;

Whereas, The sponsor will obtain all necessary permits and comply with all procedures, rules and regulations required by the City to stage the event and pay the estimated service charge of $300.00 for barricades associated with their sponsorship of the event; and
